Monster Patch Tuesday

Tomorrow, Microsoft will supply 14 security fixes that will remedy nearly three dozen defects in their programs. The patches will be for programs such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, and Silverlight. These patches, in the past, have helped prevent hackers from tweaking computer programs to get at user information, according to American Public Media.

According to Computerworld eight of the 14 updates were tagged as "critical" which is the highest threat ranking in their four-step scoring system. And the other six were still highly marked at "important."

The updates to Windows Office are focused on the flaws in Word and Excel, and are supposed to affect all versions of these two programs, except the 2010 version.

Also according to Computerworld Windows 7 is targeted with two of the five critical updates, and at least 10 out of 14 of the planned updates belong to the newest operating system.

The updates are supposed to be released Tuesday at around 10 a.m. so make sure that you keep your computers on so that the updates can make it to your system.
