Virtual Conference Meetings From Home

The idea for saving Mother Earth is becoming a common trend in today's society. We are trying to achieve ways of preventing the "carbon footprint" by driving electric or hybrids vehicles to work and promoting recycling in our community and in our workplace. So this new direction has helped to develop ways for to have business or even family meetings through the Internet's virtual world. In doing so, this would allow for businesses to conduct meetings without having to worry about traveling expenses. Families from could also save money by having their Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners with other distant relatives clear across the other side of the world as if they were all in the same room.

Cisco is one company that has developed a technology called TelePresence that allows meetings to make remote participants life-size, with fluid motion, accurate flesh-tones and flawless audio. The experience feels remarkably natural and comfortable for almost any size meeting--from two people to large classrooms. You feel you are sitting across the desk from each individual. It creates an in person experience across the Internet as if you were hosting the meeting at your office. This technology may soon come to your home as well. As technology increases, the cost of making and purchasing the product will soon start to decrease.

According to an article on November 12th from telepresenceoptions.com, Cisco's Chief Executive John Chambers said the company will launch a consumer version of its high-definition video conferencing system in around a year. He went on to say High-quality video conferencing systems are helping companies save on travel expenses and a consumer version would help people experience something closer to real-life meetings. TelePresence systems, which are equipped with large, high-definition screens with built-in microphone and camera lenses, currently cost between $34,000 and $300,000 per unit. A consumer version is expected to be significantly more affordable, although Chambers declined to elaborate on what the price range would be.

Well, just as we have seen in some of the science fiction movies of the future, we may soon have our board meetings and family discussions by just speaking to a wall or projection in our home. Just think how much more enjoyable our commute times will be when we get dressed in our bedroom and then walk to our living room for our weekly meetings!!
